Foxed Wood

Foxed wood doesn’t sound very attractive, moldy wood is even worse, but that is what it is – wood in the process of decay.

It is beech wood, which grows a lot in the forests surrounding us. And yes, it is mold which is responsible for those decorative lines and different grain and colors. Now, after I found those logs, chopped them up and dried them, this process is stopped and the wood stays as it is.

To give a better description of the wood, and because I was told American People don’t like mold, I thought up the term “marbled wood”. So let us forget about life and decay in the humid woods and think of a palace in marble…
