Christmas Creche from an old apple tree

A heavy winter storm has thrown down this old tree in 2016 near our home in Franconia. It has an inner side in dark brown tones and an outer side in light beige colors. Thus the figurines also have two different faces. I cut three arcs in this tree trunk and 19 figurines out of the arcs. Theese figurines can go out to celebrate Christmas and after Christmas return back into their home. You find inside Mary with the Child in her arms, Joseph, ox and donkey, two goats, two sheep, three goat-kids and three lambs and the Star of Bethlehem. All figurines have been carved by hand with great care and skill they are smooth and made shine with the help of beeswax from our own bees. It makes sense to me to have Christ born inside an apple tree, symbol of wisdom and life. The tree had to fall for the Child to be born before the wood wood turn back to earth.
